PROVIDENCE -- A black cat has made a lucky recovery, and now she needs a new home. Emma is a 2½-year-old stray that was surrendered to the Providence Animal Rescue League last year.
The cat became ill and was diagnosed with a serious type of anemia and liver disease. She had to be fed through a tube in her esophagus, and she needed a blood transfusion from another cat.
Emma has recovered, and her caretakers are looking to put her into a good home.
"She was so sick when she came in, and even though she was sick, she was still purring and trying to make contact with people," Dr. Jane Linden said.
The Providence River Animal Hospital treated Emma at no cost to the rescue league.
Anyone interested in adopting Emma should call the animal hospital at (401) 274-7724.
